Day 1

The Gateway to this tour is Sandakan in Sabah Province in Borneo. There are daily flights from Kuala Lumpur. For more details on getting to Sandakan e mail: info@paradise-islands.net

Your Guide will meet and greet at the Airport and transfer you to Sabah Parks jetty for a  boat transfer to Selingan Island which is  located in the Sulu Sea, about 40 kilometers from Sandakan. There are three islands that make up Turtle Islands which has been declared a marine park.  Pulau Selingan is the main island that served as a breeding ground for the green turtles. On almost every evening, these turtles would crawl up to the soft sandy beach that fringes the island to lay their eggs.

Upon arrival, we register at Park HQ and check in to your chalet.  Proceed for lunch at 1200 noon at the cafeteria. Free and easy to swim, snorkel or explore the island.

After dinner, the park ranger calls you to observe turtles laying eggs. The ranger will then transfer the eggs to the hatchery and if there are young turtles hatching, there will be an opportunity to witness the release of baby turtles to the open sea. Day 2

After an early breakfast, depart to Sandakan at 07h00. Upon arrival proceed for a drive to Sepilok Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre to witness the feeding of Orang Utan. The feedings starts at approximately 10.00 am. There is time to roam around the centre's photo gallery. We then  walk the wooden walkway, some 100 meters into the rainforest to the feeding platform where the Orang Utan would gather for their daily meals.

Later we proceed to the Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary. Transfer by boat and check in to the River Lodge. Lunch will be served. Rest & relax before commencing the evening cruise along the Kinabatangan River which is home to the largest forested flood plains in Malaysia, filled with ox-bow lakes, mangrove, grassy swamps and fig trees.

There are several species of wildlife which make Kinabatangan their home. Among the most notable ones are the Proboscis monkeys, easily recognised by their pot belly and long nose, Asian elephants, rhinoceros hornbills & Orang Utans.

Here there will be an opportunity to observe and spot the wildlife along the river including the Proboscis Monkey and other primates. Overnight at the River Lodge. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included today)



Day 3

Enjoy an early morning  cruise up river to the Ox Bow Lake to observe birds and other wildlife. We also make a short trek into the rainforest before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Free at leisure to explore the surrounding area until the evening cruise in search of other flora and fauna. Overnight at the River Lodge.


Optional tour for Night Cruise or Night Walk can be arranged upon request. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included today).



Day 4


Depart in the morning and visit to the Gomantong Cave , famed for its edible birds' nest and explore the cave system. Later return to Sandakan with stop over for lunch. After lunch transfer to Sandakan airport for departure flight to Kota Kinabalu.

Meet upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu and transfer to Tempurang Lodge. Free and easy to swim, rest and relax. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 5


Free and easy to swim, rest and relax. Overnight at the lodge. *Optional tour to Klias Wetland for a river cruise is available. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included today)

Day 6


Free and easy to explore the village, rest, swim and relax.



*Optional tour Pulau Tiga (Survivor Island) day trip. Pulau Tiga was the venue for the very first Survivor Island series. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included today).

Day 7


After breakfast, transfer to the train station for a train journey to Kota Kinabalu. Departing at 11am, it takes a 2hrs 30 minutes to arrive in Kota Kinabalu). (Breakfast included today)

Transfer to the airport for departure flight to your next destination. If time permits, a shopping excursion in K K can be arranged. For those opting to spend a night or two in KK you will be dropped off at your hotel.

Turtle Island Marine Park Chalets   Budget
Location: Selingan Marine National Park - Sandakan

Accommodation here is basic but comfortable - the chalets exist so that visitors can stay and witness the night-time arrivals of the magnificent turtles as they come ashore to lay eggs. You won't find any pools or spas, but that's not really what Selingan's all about. There is air-conditioning, and the shared bathrooms and toilets are well-kept and clean. Visitors enjoy a highly privileged chance to watch both egg-laying and the release of hatchlings into the sea.



Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge   Budget
Location : Kota Kinabalu

Situated  on Borneo's famous Kinabatangan River lies the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge.
